WHY THE DESERT

What is it about a desert that makes a tourist want to go there?

Is it the vast open plains that lies in front of you with no other souls around or the greatness of life being supported by what looks like nothing? Is it the dry low rainfall or just the fact that it looks like no life could be supported whatsoever?
Let me tell about deserts and other likewise places.

A desert is not just an open space made up of sand dunes with extreme temperatures,
it is a very unique place where specialy adapted fauna and flora exists and fight a never ending fight to stay alive.
Did you know that the Richtersveld mountain desert supports more plant species than the Tsitsikama woodlands, some of which you will only find in a very small area
Then you get the starlit sky at night that is so bright, on a dark moon night you can see enough to get around.

A desert is like those hypnotising pictures, the more you look the more you see. The only problem with a desert is that once you see one thing that interests you, you are hooked for life. You will realise that there is not only life but a very interesting eco system and so many specially adapted creatures and plants that is actually scary.
There are so many different forms of deserts in Southern Africa, most of us didn't even know it but we live in a desert.
